A Teacher Daily Lesson Guide is provided for each theme at every grade level. Select a page number to explore the features of a DLG, or download the full sample as a PDF.

The Table of Contents lists a quick reference to DLG components.

  • A synopsis of the Anchor text and the unit focus, author information and the paired text.
  • The standards addressed in the unit. The entire standard is included and the underlined part of the standard is the focus for this unit
  • Suggested assessments for the unit in three blocks – pre-assessment, formative assessment and summative assessment
  • A Bible text for the unit
  • The Adventist worldview

Each unit has five appendices which contain:

  • printables
  • spelling lists
  • assessments
  • answer keys
  • scoring guides
  • other resources applicable to each particular grade and unit.

The unit focus begins with an overview of the book and author.

Additional print resources that are used in the unit are included under “Paired Text.”

The rest of this page presents the Adventist Worldview graphic customized to show an Essential Question, Big Idea, and bulleted thought points that are directly related to the theme.

  • LA stands for Language Arts
  • 3 represents the grade level
  • RL stands for Language Arts domain “Literature”
  • 3 represents the fourth skill under the “Reading: Informational Text” domain.

Examples of the types of pre-assessment, formative, and summative assessments are listed for vocabulary, spelling, reading, and writing.

Assessments specific to each unit and mentioned on this page are available in the appendices.

A comprehensive list of assessment options are included in each DLG.

Each unit is designed for four weeks of instruction.

The At a Glance chart provides an overview of each week by day.

The standards, activities, and needed resources are provided in this overview.

This is NOT a substitute for lesson planning. Detailed lessons for word study, reading workshop, and writing workshop follow each weekly At a Glance chart.
